  • Attraction: Blackwood River Park

  • Description: Visit the postcard pretty town of Bridgetown and spend some time relaxing on the grassy expanses of Blackwood River Park. This park land is just the place for a family picnic.
    Situated on the banks of the Blackwood River, the park has river access, walk trails, barbecues, a playground and toilets. The Blackwood River Park also has its place in local history as the site of the first police station which was built in 1862.

  • Description: Bridgedale House is a National Trust building in the centre of Bridgetown, which was once home to one of the town’s first white settlers. Now the oldest remaining building in the town, it has been beautifully preserved and is open to the public for viewings. It is a beautiful historic building with great heritage value. You will be captivated by the beauty of the surrounding gardens. Be sure to check out the tiny building behind Bridgedale House where the original owner lived in very cramped quarters while building the main house.

  • Description: 20 kilometres west of Bridgetown on the Brockman Highway is the Bridgetown Jarrah Park. This is a combined effort by the department of Conservation and Land Management (CALM) and the Bridgetown community. There are two trails commemorating the early timber history of the area. The Tree Fallers trail is 2.6 kilometres long and takes about an hour. The Shield Tree Trail is 700 metres and takes about 20 minutes. There is a picnic area at the entrance to the park.

  • Description: Bridgetown's Old Gaol and Police Quarters provide an opportunity to see how prisoners were incarcerated in the late 1800s. Walk through the cells, storeroom, kitchen, exercise yard and police living rooms to gain an insight into prison life over the 90 years they remained in operation. Whilst the buildings are only open on Saturday between 10am and 2pm, you are welcome to walk around the outside grounds at other times.

  • Description: The Geegelup Heritage Trail retraces the history of the Bridgetown-Greenbushes area and its links with the agricultural, mining and timber industries. Commencing at Blackwood River Park in Bridgetown, the trail offers a days outing with opportunities for picnicking, walking, cycling and canoeing.
