  • Attraction: Tree Top Walk in the Valley of the Giants

  • Description: VALLEY OF THE GIANTS TREE TOP WALK east of Walpole, only 10 minutes from Nornalup, Bow Bridge and Peaceful Bay, in the Walpole-Nornalup National Park. The park is nearly 20,000 hectares of towering karri and tingle forests to coastal heath. The rugged coastline, peaceful inlets and rivers are a major feature of the park's beauty. The Park has long been one of the area's most popular tourist destinations. The Tree Top Walk, is a walkway that rises up to 38m above the forest. All ages can view the canopy of the magnificent tingle forest. Visitors get a different perspective on the shapes, sounds and movement of the forest. Below, a boardwalk winds though a grove of veteran tingle trees known as the Ancient Empire. The first part is suitable for people in wheelchairs (assisted), and the carpark, with picnic facilities and toilets, is conveniently located nearby.

  • Description: Welcome to our hands-on animal farm and wildlife park where you can pat, cuddle and feed a huge range of friendly and interesting animals including koalas, alpacas, rabbits, chickens and joeys. Meet "Tyson" the North American Bison, "Tess" and "King Lear" the Scottish Highland cattle, "Beryl" the Pig, "Jox" the fox...and of course Fergus & Roxy the dogs!

  • Description:  Walpole is situated on the shallow Walpole Inlet. This inlet has a depth of no more than 1 metre and is fed by the Walpole River. There are good fishing opportunities from both the Town Jetty and Swan Bay Jetty (also a great spot to watch sunsets). The Nornalup Inlet is both deeper (up to 5 metres) and larger. This inlet is fed by the Frankland River and the Deep River and is connected to the Walpole Inlet by a one kilometre long channel. This inlet is permanently open to the sea that, combined with the rivers, creates a rich and diverse marine habitat. The Nornalup Inlet provides great opportunities for a whole host of activities including fishing, boating, sailing and swimming.

  • Description: Mead, Honey Wine, Honeywine. Bartholomew's Meadery produces superb mead (honey wines) from natural Western Australian honey. Order Mead (honey wine) and honey on this site. Visit and experience mead, varietal honeys and honey ice cream. At Bartholomew's Meadery you will discover many wonderful products made by the bees including finest quality unprocessed honey, propolis (a natural antibiotic), bee pollen, beeswax and royal jelly products. Once the nectar of gods and goddesses, honey wine is again available to mortals with discerning taste

  • Description:  Join one of the WOW Wilderness eco-interpreters for an informative 2 1/2 hour cruise into the beautiful and unique waterways of the Walpole Nornalup National Park to the Nuyts Wilderness, WA's first Wilderness Zone. You also have an option to walk into the wilderness area to a secluded beach on the Southern Ocean. The vessel is fully enclosed and operates in most weathers.

  • Description:  Karri and Tingle Eucalypt forest. Forest of Jarrah, Marri. Coastal heathland and some Red Flowering Gums. Animals to be found include the Western Grey Kangaroo, Quokka, Honey Possum, Yellow Footed Mouse, Bush Rat, Bandicoots and a variety of birds, Fly Batchs, Honeyeaters, Parrots. Karri and Tingle Eucalypt forest. Forest of Jarrah, Marri. Coastal heathland and some Red Flowering Gums. Animals to be found include the Western Grey Kangaroo, Quokka, Honey Possum, Yellow Footed Mouse, Bush Rat, Bandicoots and a variety of birds, Fly Batchs, Honeyeaters, Parrots. The Walpole-Nornalup National Park is located on the south coast and is approximately 18,116 hectares. This park has Karri and Tingle Eucalypt forests, wilderness area, some sandy beaches, picturesque coastline.

 

  • Attraction: Fernhook Falls

  • Description:  Located on Beardmore Road (36kms NW of Walpole), Fernhook Falls are part of the Deep River with spectacular falls in winter. This area is also a popular swimming and picnic spot in summer. Below the falls, at the river edge, are board walks and a stairway into the river affords a safe canoe launch during the white water season of July to October. Camping facilities are also available. Two shelters, camping sites, water and barbecue facilities are provided for a fee.

  • Description: Walpoles Giant Tingle tree is the largest, living, girthed eucalypt known in the world. Opposite Knoll Drive, Hilltop Road winds through a very special red tingle and Karri forest. Two kilometres along this one-way road will bring you to a spectacular lookout over the Frankland River, Nornalup Inlet and Southern Ocean. Three kilometres after the lookout will bring you to the car park of the Giant Tingle Tree. From here starts an 800m circular walk which leads down to the Giant Tingle Tree and the board walk that protects it. At 24 metres, this is the largest, living, girthed eucalypt known in the world. Two hundred metres after the Giant Tingle Tree carpark there is an opportunity to rejoin the South Coast Highway as Hilltop Road continues on to Circular Pool.
